Stick to it

I??ve made many new contacts since I??ve started blogging ?? and one of the biggest benefits of these new relationships is my exposure to new ideas and blogs. In fact, that??s the key to this blog??s evolution.

Here are some of the new blogs I??ve been following in the last few months. They??ve all got something in common, see if you can spot what makes them similar:

Indexed.com
Very simple idea ?? graphs on index cards. Each speaks for itself, not much more explanation is needed. It??s a nice, tight idea. I just discovered this blog and it became an instant favourite.

Note to CMO
Stephen Denny writes open letters to the marketing community in this blog. His opinions are sharp, the format is witty. I really enjoy the way he presents his thoughts.

Pow!RightBetweenTheEyes
This blog shot right up to my ??Most Read? newsreader folder very fast. Andy Nulman??s blog about Surprise is an excellent read. Love the tone, love how inspiring it is.

Word Wise
Dan Satow pens an excellent blog that provides writing tips to marketers ?? actually, to anyone who writes.

Okay, if you haven??t already clicked over to these four blogs, go ahead.

Do you see what these blogs have in common? They all stick to single premise ?? graphs on index cards, open letters, surprise marketing, and writing tips ?? and they all do it quite well. While there??s little doubt that the key to blogging success having great content, it certainly doesn??t hurt if that content is packaged consistently well.

Hats off to these four bloggers, there??s no doubt that their success has come from following this recipe.

I’ve been a fan of Denny’s blog for some time. He’s so darn sharp and has taught me a lot. He adds a very frank-but-fair viewpoint that is really needed and balances the ’sphere.

Thanks for pointing me to other great reads, too.

No problem, Peter. Thanks for coming out.

Mark — forgive my commenting so late, but many thanks for your kind words. NtCMO has been a lot of fun for me to write and I’m glad you (and ck, of course) like it.

Can I point you to a great blog I came across recently? Take a look at Grant McCracken’s “This blog sits at the intersection of anthropology and marketing.” He’s at http://www.cultureby.com/trilogy/. Wonderful blog, superbly written. Take a look! And thanks again —

Thanks for the comment and the new blog to read, Stephen. BTW, it’s never too late to comment.

    Cheers!
