Drew tagged me on a meme started over at Web Strategy by Jeremiah ?? Drew was tagged by Connie ?? about media snacking.
What??s a media snacker? From Jeremiah??s blog:
??Folks who consume small bits of information, data or entertainment when, where, and how they want.?
His post was inspired by this video, which Jeremiah contests:
??I??d argue that the folks who created this video emphasized too much that mediasnackers are the youth only, because business folks of any age are busy, get information from multiple sources, and need filters.?
So the question is, how do you respect media snackers and where can you do better?
How do I respect media snackers:
? I??m one of them. Not following a ??can??t beat them, so I??ve joined them? strategy here, I??ve been a longtime media snacker (maybe without even knowing it) for a long while. I favour short, concise articles that get to the point when I??m busy, simple marketing messages that cut to the chase at all times and will cut out anything that wastes my time, like partial feeds. You want me to read, give it to me when and where I want it.
? I Twitter. Currently following 75 people ?? people who feed me some of the most important information I read every day. They filter for me, telling me what I should snack on. In return, I try to do the same for them.
? My del.icio.us page is tag heavy. Which, like Drew mentioned in his post, makes it easier for people to access the content they??re looking for when they land on my page.
? I??ve got a DVR. Pre-DVR, I was a flipper, changing channels during commercial breaks, sometimes even cutting shows down to their bare essentials. Now, I just skip ahead and watch what I want, when I want. Understanding this mindset is a huge if you want to get just how and why people aren??t tuned into commercials unless held hostage.
Where I can do better
? Shorter blog posts. Enough said.
? Letting readers know when I??m not posting. Shouldn??t disappear without explaining why, wasting your time visiting here when you could be elsewhere.
My turn to tag some other media snackers: Matt, Valeria, Ann ?? have fun!

Hi Mark,
Thank you for the tag. Since I didn’t really share my media snacks on my post http://tinyurl.com/ytqfu4, I will do so here.
I use Twitter to sort through what’s going on and post news. Rubel, Scobleizer, Chris Brogan, Jim Long, Vaspers the Grate, Connie Reece, Technosailor, Geoff Livingston and so many others post a consistent stream of interesting and timely information. This week (and next) I’ve also used Twitter to compile a list of requests for topics to post on at my blog.
I’m beginning to listen to podcasts and watch vCasts (Matt’s for example). And I have been writing slightly shorter blog posts ;-)

Valeria: It’s been interesting watching you on Twitter, I have to say. You’ve jumped right in and have gotten so much out of it so fast. It’ll be fun continuing to see how you use it to further your thinking.
DK: Nice job tracking the meme!
