Dell Blog Team interview

Just came across this interview from last summer. It’s Andy Sernovitz spending a little over six minutes with three Dell Blog Team members. What I find really interesting about this video is not just why Dell has entered the blogosphere, but how they’ve done so. They undoubtedly understood the importance of entering in the right spirit.

This is one of the most important factors to understand when embarking on a blogging strategy. Be open. Be honest. And give your bloggers a voice. If you’re not in it with the right intentions, then you might as well not be there at all.

If you’re going in with a team of writers, turn to people you can trust. Don’t edit, slow ‘em down and stop them from reacting. Let them speak, chances are, they’ll do you proud. The fact is, if you muzzle your writers, your readers will sense it and call you on it â?? and then you’ll have one heck of a job trying to regain the trust.

It’s simple point. But like most simple things, it’s one of the more difficult ones to execute. However, if Dell can make the leap â?? and change a lot of negative perceptions as a result â?? them maybe you can too.

Check out the Direct2Dell blog. (Always liked one of their first posts.)

To understand their first post, here’s the backstory â?? read oldest to newest.
